REACTIVATE 18 (REACT) Compiled by Darren Pearce & James Horrocks

After all these years, REACT still goes on strong with its releases. Reviewed here is their latest 2CD compilation, volume 18. It is also available as a single CD  continuously mixed by Darren Pearce.

The selection consists of some of the hottest trance tunes in clubland as well as an exclusive track from Krystal (‘Unpredictable’), a sure fire hands in the air tune. Uplifting mght be an understatement. Push’s classic ‘Strange World’ is featured in its 2000 Remake. Mass Effect’s ‘Alphascan’ has a breakdown and build-up that just shouts “energy”. Pounding basslines rule each of the tunes featured and honestly, they don’t all sound the same. Capetown’s ‘Skydriver’ breathes in with some breaks influence. Antarctica’s latest release ‘Illusion’ has one of the lushes atmospheric breakdowns you could find. Other choice tunes include the progressive sounds of V3’s ‘Resistance’ and Contact’s ‘Contact’.
