BEDROCK: JIMMY VAN M (BEDROCK)

Serving up a dark and progressive mix, we delve into atmospheric tribal rhythms in the form of Mo Shic’ and Zeidan’s ‘Nightstalker’. This sets the mood and tone of the entire mix, brooding on dark grooves. This is progressive as the Bedrock sound is known for. This is a collection of releases and names synonymous with the progressive crowd. Prototype’s ‘Control Of Sound’ provides a hard edged production.  Innate & Andy Moor’s surreal ‘Barotek’ raises the aural senses a notch. Jimmy Van M’s very own ‘Love Like Sheep’ featuring Terra Deva on vocals sits beautifully the mellow ‘Struggle For Pleasure’ by Minimalistix brings disc one to a close.

Disc two is no different as it starts off with the same moody grooves in John Johnson’s latest production ‘London’. Two different mixes of Solid Sessions’ ‘Janeiro’ is mixed in for a full 14mins which, fortunately, is not overdone. The Amityville Dub of Quivver’s ‘One Last Time’ sheds some funkiness into the mix as does Van Bellen’s ‘Soulfeel’. Nuclear Ramjet’s Deep Blue gets all trancey while still featuring a percussive breakdown any breaks fan would appreciate.

This compilation exemplifies Jimmy Van M’s progressive selection and tight programming and mixing.
