PERFECTO PRESENTS … PAUL OAKENFOLD: TRAVELLING (PERFECTO)

After a time of quiet, Paul Oakenfold returns to compilation arena with Perfecto latest mix series. The mix is built up on the grooves of house tracks in the name of ‘Ubik’ and ‘The Way You Know’. From here on, the mix gets a bit deeper and darker. Dave Kane’s ‘Clarkeness’ with its bassline and melody picks up the pace with its Slacker remix. Progressive trance, ‘Melodica’ and ‘Descent’. Oakenfold keeps his mix tight and brings in one of Perfecto’s best selling releases – Bullet In The Gun.

Going for some breaks, disc two opens with Brancaccio & Aisher’s ‘Darker’. Certainly the trancier and more vocal oriented of the two disc, ‘Over Emotion’, ‘Lost Vagueness’, ‘Flesh’ and ‘Silence’ set the tone for the mix. Jan Johnston’s vocals on ‘Flesh’ gives it a certain edge. Uplifting and yet retaining a sense of despair. DJ Tiesto sees his mixes of three separate songs being featured.
